Obituary of Joseph A. Sucamele

Joseph Anthony Sucamele was born in Manhattan to Jack Sucamele and Frances (Trocchio) Sucamele on October 28, 1936.

The family moved to Brooklyn when Joe was 5 years old. The following year, Jack and Frances had a second son, and Joe was the epitome of the protective big brother.

Joe attended New Utrecht High School where he was fast to grasp his studies and was well liked by his teachers and fellow students. Standing 6'1" with blue eyes and dark hair, Joe stood out amongst his peers.

Joe graduated with honors in 1954, and attended Brooklyn College, where he studied business. During that time, Joe formed a doo-wop vocal group called "The Heartbeats". The song made the charts, and he performed on WPIX television.

Joe graduated Brooklyn College with a Bachelor of Arts degree with honors in 1958.  He then attended Fordham Law School. With multiple ambitions, Joe enlisted in the Army Reserves Medical Unit.

Joe met a young woman at St. Bernadette Church in Brooklyn, her name was Jean Amorosi, their romance began and they quickly fell in love.  Joe married Jean, the love of his life, on November 25, 1961.

Joe worked at Rueben H. Donnelly Publishing Firm, becoming district sales manager and traveling the country.

Joe and Jean enjoyed skiing and tennis, and spending time at their homes in Far Hills, NJ, and Boca Raton, Florida. They celebrated 55 beautiful years of marriage.

After Jean's passing, Joe lived a quiet life, spending time with friends, involved with his church, and the Knights of Columbus.

Joe passed away peacefully at Morristown Medical Center, the morning of May 21, 2025.

Joe is preceded in death by his beloved wife Jean (Amorosi) Sucamele.

He is survived by his brother, Richard Sucamele and wife Cindy Sucamele, of Venice, Forida;  his brother-in-law, Dr. Edward Amorosi and wife Myra Amorosi, of Marina Del Ray, California; his sister-in-law, Julie Amorosi of Santa Monica, California; his niece Jacquie (Sucamele) Masciana and husband Anthony Masciana, and two daughters, Alexandra and Lauryn Masciana; his nephew, Richard Johnson and wife Tess Johnson, and family; his niece Patricia (Johnson) Zabel and husband Eric Zabel, and family; his nephew, David Johnson and wife Maureen Johnson, and family; and his nephew Michael Johnson, and family.

Joe leaves behind a legacy of love, his memory will forever echo in the hearts of those who were fortunate to know him.
