Obituary of Robert McGowan
Robert “Bob” McGowan, of Chittenden VT, beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and
friend passed away on June 22, 2025 at the age of 80 at Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center
surrounded by his loving family.
Born in Union City NJ to Edwin McGowan and Frances Peetz McGowan, he was the 4 th child of seven.
Bob Graduated from Parsippany High School in 1963.
Bob married the love of his life, Elaine G. Huber, in February 1965 and together they raised their
children in Parsippany, NJ. He was a past president of Par Troy West Little League and was active in
coaching youth baseball and basketball teams. Bob was also Cub Master for the local Boy Scouts of
America.
He was a longtime Motorola, Inc employee retiring in the early 2000’s as a Vice President in their
Network Services Division. He is considered by many to be a pioneer in the mobile services industry.
Bob was also an entrepreneur who led several business ventures after his retirement from Motorola.
He was an active member and former Chairman of the Board for the Enterprise Wireless Association and
its predecessor the American Mobile Technology Association.
Bob enjoyed golf and was a member of the Lake Mohawk Golf Club. He loved skiing, snowmobiling,
travel, fishing and spending time with his wife, children, grandchildren, extended family and friends. He
also loved having the opportunity to watch and cheer his grandchildren as they competed in organized
sports.
He was predeceased by his parents, his brothers: Dennis (Eileen) and Michael (Sandy), and his brother-
in-law Walter Pasuco (Mary).
He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Elaine, his four children: Kelly Napolitano of Boonton Township NJ,
Robert Jr (Karen) of Roxbury NJ, Kevin (Noelle) of Hillsborough NJ and Nancy Kay (Jason) of Rutland VT,
his sisters Kathy (Dan), Meredith (Jack), and brothers William (Carol) and Timothy (Leslie) in addition to
many nieces and nephews.
He was a cherished grandfather to 13 grandchildren: Anthony, Dominic, Kailey, Natalie, Brandon,
Matthew, Kaitlyn, Breanna, Keegan, Madyson, Samuel, Joshua and Amelia. He was looking forward to
welcoming his first great-grandson into the world and sharing his wisdom with another generation.
Bob will be remembered for his devotion and generosity to his family and friends. His legacy of love,
service, and commitment will live on in the hearts of all who were blessed to know him.
The family will receive friends to celebrate his life on Saturday July 12th from 1-4pm at the Parsippany
Elks Lodge. A service will be held from 1:30 to 2pm.
