Obituary of Wendy Olson

Wendy Meyer Olson, beloved wife, mother and daughter, died peacefully on April 5, 2011, at The Hospice of Charleston in South Carolina. She was 50 years old. Wendy was born April 22, 1960, in Montclair, NJ. She spent her early life in Upper Montclair, before moving to Mountain Lakes, NJ, in 4th grade. She graduated from Mountain Lakes High School in 1978 and earned her Associates Degree from the County College of Morris in 1982. After college, Wendy began a career in sales and marketing. Her most memorable job was as a salesperson for a wine and spirit importer in New York City. She also worked as a marketer in the travel industry. Wendy also earned her real estate license and spent several years of her career in that field. In 1992, she married Jon W. Olson, and they lived in Chatham, NJ, and Mendham, NJ, before moving to Daniel Island, SC, in 2008. Their daughter Kristina was born on July 6, 2001. Wendy was very active in the Junior League of Morristown and also contributed her time and efforts on behalf of the Mendham Township Library. She also served on the board of the Mount Kemble Home in Morristown, NJ. Wendy was a member of Hilltop Church in Mendham. Her interests included interior design and fashion and she will be remembered for her remarkable sense of style and grace. Her family will remember her as a loving wife, mother and daughter, who had a vibrant, out-going personality. A friend to all, Wendy was an inspiration and blessing to all who knew her. She is survived by her husband, Jon, and daughter, Kristina, of Daniel Island, SC, her mother Barbara Meyer of Morris Plains, NJ, her sister Karen Meyer Tuccio (Steve) of Lebanon Township, NJ, and by nieces, a nephew, and many cousins around the U.S.A. Visitation will be held on Monday, April 11, from 2-4 p.m. & 7-9 p.m. at the Bailey Funeral Home, 8 Hilltop Rd., Mendham. The funeral service will be Tuesday, April 12, at 11 a.m. at Hilltop Church in Mendham. There will be a private interment at the Mendham Hilltop Cemetery following the funeral service. Memorial contributions may be made in Wendy's name to the Salzano-Smith Foundation for Brain Tumor Research, 8 Highland Terrace, Wayne, NJ, 07470.
