Obituary of Sister Anthony Beifuss

Sister Anthony Beifuss, Sister of Christian Charity, entered eternal life on June 21, 2019 at the Motherhouse, Mendham, New Jersey.

Sister was 97 years of age.

Born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, October 30, 1921, Sister Anthony was the daughter of Antonie Rudholzner Beifuss and John Beifuss. Sister entered the Sisters of Christian Charity on August 27, 1939, and professed her first vows on August 21, 1942 and made her final profession of vows on August 20, 1948.

Sister Anthony spent her early years in religious life as a primary grade teacher in Catholic schools in Pennsylvania, New York, and New Jersey. Following her years in educational ministry, she was assigned to Holy Spirit Hospital Convent first as sacristan in the hospital chapel and then as a clerical worker in the Business Office for 8 years.

Due to age and health reasons, she transferred to Holy Family Convent and Infirmary where she continued to help in the Business Office prior to her retirement from active ministry. In May 2018 Sister joined the SCC community at the new Motherhouse in Mendham, New Jersey.

Sister Anthony is survived by her cousin Regina Dalaimo, Philadelphia, and the Sisters of Christian Charity. Viewing will be Sunday, June 23, 2-4 pm with Evening Prayer at 7 pm in the Chapel of Mary Immaculate, Motherhouse, Mendham, NJ.

Liturgy of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, June 24th at 11 am at the Motherhouse with burial at Holy Cross Cemetery on the Motherhouse property.

In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Sister Anthony can be made to the Sisters of Christian Charity, Mendham, New Jersey.
