Obituary of Robert C. Marlatt

Robert Crawford Marlatt passed away peacefully in his home on October 4, 2019. He was 92 years old.

Born in New York, NY, he was raised by his parents Wilfrid and Lotta (Crawford) Marlatt in Old Greenwich, Connecticut.  After graduating from Greenwich High School, Robert enlisted in the United States Army Air Corps, with whom he served during World War II while stationed in Manila, Philippines.  He attended Norwich University graduating in1951 and worked as a Claims Broker in the insurance business retiring from Aon in 1997.  Robert and his family lived in Pennsylvania, Connecticut and finally settling in Bedminster, NJ, 58 years ago.

Robert was an involved father, Boy Scout Leader, and active member of the Bedminster School PTO.  He was just as involved as a grandfather and great grandfather and loved being involved in his grandchildren’s activities.  Golf was an enjoyable past time for Robert along with playing cards, making puzzles, building model planes, and woodworking. Robert was an animal lover and donated selflessly to endless animal shelters and charities to benefit his furry friends.

Robert is predeceased by his loving wife of 59 years, the late Jean W. Marlatt. He is survived by his son Robert C. (Deb) Marlatt, II of Coal Twp, PA, daughters Cindy (Rich) Forsythe of Hampton, NJ, and Terri (Dan) Kinney of Califon, NJ, grandchildren Chelsea (Nick) Walker, Oliver (Alyssa) and Emily Forsythe, Trey, Laurier, and Abbie Kinney, and great grandchildren Tallulah Walker and Brylee Forsythe.

A private family service will be held at the Bailey Funeral Home, Peapack. In lieu of flowers, donations in Robert’s name can be made to St. Hubert’s Animal Welfare Center, 575 Woodland Ave, Madison, NJ 07940 or online at www.sthuberts.org/donate.
