Obituary of Patricia Smith

Patricia Smith passed away on December 14, 2019. She was 70 years old.

Born in Teaneck, NJ, to parents Peter and Marion (nee Surgent) Casola, Patricia and her family lived in Ridgefield Park, NJ, where she attended and graduated from Ridgefield Park High School in 1967. She moved with her family to Flanders in 1978 where she has been a resident since. She was Catholic and a parishioner of St. Therese Church in Succasunna, NJ.

Patricia worked as a beautician in Bergenfield for a handful of years until 1978 and spent most of her life as a homemaker and loving mother. Family was the most important thing to her, she loved and cherished being a mother and absolutely adored being Mema to her two grandchildren, specifically watching them swimming in their pool and playing on their swing set - they were her world. She was a diehard New York Yankee fan and cherished seeing concerts for artists she loved.  She treasured being part of the sixth generation to vacation in Watch Hill, RI.  Patricia touched the lives of so many friends and family with her bold personality and her unmatched wit. She was one of a kind and will be missed dearly. 

Patricia is predeceased by her brother Peter Casola, and is survived by her loving husband of 45 years, David Smith of Flanders, son David (daughter-in-law Jahnalyn) Smith of Sparta, daughter Randi Smith of Flanders, brothers James (sister in law Margaret) Casola of Succasunna and Robert (sister in law JoAnn) Casola of California, and grandson Grayson and granddaughter Addison Smith.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, December 19, from 4-8 PM at the Bailey Funeral Home, 8 Hilltop Rd, Mendham NJ 07945 with a service in the funeral home at 6 - 6:30 PM. In lieu of flowers, donations in Patricia’s name can be made to the Alzheimer's Association .
