Obituary of Placido Pat Barbera

Placido “Pat” Barbera, of Mendham, passed away on Jan. 28, 2020 at Morristown Medical Center.  He was 76.

Born in Brooklyn, NY to Louis and Lucy Barbera, he grew up with all of his cousins and family close by. When he began his career at Ciba Geigy as a sales representative to the Mayo Clinic, he lived in Rochester, MN. Moving to Mendham, NJ in 1982, he spent most of his 40-year career in Marketing at Novartis in East Hanover before retiring in 2004.

Pat was a loving and devoted husband, father and grandfather.  He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends at their second home in Quebec and skiing at Mont-Tremblant.  Pat was also an avid fisherman.

He was predeceased by his parents and his brother Thomas.

He is survived by his wife Joy Riddell Barbera, son Patrick Barbera and his wife Stephanie of Canton, MA, and daughter Kate McShane and her husband Bryan of New Providence. He is also survived by his grandchildren William and Wyatt Barbera and Zander and Lucy McShane.

Visitation will be held on Friday, January 31, from 3-7 pm at the Bailey Funeral Home, 8 Hilltop Rd, Mendham.  Funeral Mass Saturday at 10:30 am at St. Brigid Church, 129 Main St, Peapack.
