Obituary of Joseph Tramutola

Joseph L. Tramutola passed away at home in Mendham on March 6, 2020. He was 89.

He was born in Union City and grew up in Cliffside Park.  

He was a graduate of St. Peter’s University and Fordham Law School.

Joseph served in the US Army 1955-1957 and was stationed in Germany.

He and his wife, Mary Ann and daughters resided in Mendham for many years.

Joseph and his wife built a home in Wellfleet, MA where they spent many happy summers, etc. with his family.

He practiced law in New Jersey for many years. He then became a law professor at Fairleigh Dickinson University from 1964-2001.  He created and directed the Educational Program for Older Persons at FDU from 1972-2001.  Joseph also published four books while at FDU.

His family will remember him as a loving husband, father, grandfather and father-in-law who always showed loving support and demonstrated great love towards his family.

He was an avid gardener, photographer and potter which brought beauty to his life and home.  

He is survived by his wife Mary Ann Banull Tramutola, three daughters; Karen D’Alessandro (Vincent) ,  Kim Crumrine (Mike), and Karla Tramutola.  He is also survived by his grandsons Parker and Dustin Crumrine.

Visitation will be held Tuesday, March 10, 4-8pm at the Bailey Funeral Home, 8 Hilltop Road., Mendham.  Funeral Service Wednesday, March 11, 11am in the funeral home.  Interment Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Chester.  For those desiring, donations to the Mendham Twp. Library, 2 West Main Street, Brookside, NJ, 07926 in his memory, would be appreciated.
