Obituary of Melissa Curtis Wadley

Melissa Curtis Wadley passed away on September 3, 2024. She was 56 years old. Melissa was a loving mother, daughter, sister, aunt, and friend.

Born in Staten Island, NY, to parents Charles and Sandra (Havens) Curtis, Melissa lived in Bernardsville and Gladstone before settling in Mendham in 1997. She was a parishioner of St. Joseph Church in Mendham.

Melissa’s whole life revolved around her family. After attending and graduating from Wesley College and New York School of Interior Design, she worked briefly before settling down to start a family. In 1992, she married the love of her life and high school sweetheart, Daniel Wadley, and they moved to Mendham after the birth of their first child. She was a deeply devoted and loving mother, involved heavily in her children’s educations, sports teams, extracurricular activities, friends, and more.

Melissa enjoyed PGA golf and was a devoted fan of the University of Tennessee Vols and the New York Giants. However, her greatest joy came from sharing these interests with her beloved family. In her younger years, she cherished water skiing at the lake with her sisters and horseback riding. As she grew older and started her own family, she found immense happiness in spending summers in Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida, a place that became her cherished second home. She possessed an unparalleled sense of style and taste, earning the admiration and respect of everyone fortunate enough to know her.

Melissa is survived by her loving husband of 31 years, Daniel Wadley, their children Maggie Wadley Masur and her husband Brian, Gillian Wadley and Jack Wadley, mother Sandra Curtis Medulla and her husband Terry, sisters Karen Ambrozy, Carolyn Dunkel, and Jennifer Cambria, and her many nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her father, Charles E. Curtis.

Visitation will be held on Monday, September 9, from 4:00pm-8:00pm at the Bailey Funeral Home, 8 Hilltop Road, Mendham. A Funeral Mass will take place on Tuesday, September 10, at 10:30am at St. Joseph Church in Mendham. Melissa will be laid to rest in a private family ceremony following Mass. All are welcome to join us afterward for a repast celebration at 12:00pm at Roxiticus Golf Club, 179 Bliss Rd, Mendham. Donations in Melissa’s memory may be made to the Cancer Research Institute.
