Obituary of Philip G Couchie

Philip G. Couchie passed away on January 16, 2025. He was 76 years old.

Born in London, England, to parents Roger and Elsie (Seach) Couchie, Philip moved to Far Hills in 1985 and has been a resident ever since.

Philip worked as an electrician and operated his own alarm system company with his brother David in England before immigrating to the US. He was a big football (soccer) fan and enjoyed rooting for his favorite team, the Chelsea Football Club. He enjoyed history immensely and spent much time learning about many different periods of history. Philip also had a soft spot for music and especially enjoyed songs from the 60’s, playing them often.

Philip is survived by his daughter, Louise Russo and her partner Doug Berry, daughter-in-law Mary Ellen Couchie, grandchildren Reid and Emma Jane Couchie, brother- and sisters-in-law, niece and nephews and extended family. He is predeceased by his loving wife of 30 years, Rita Couchie, son Mark Couchie, and brother David Couchie.

If you were lucky enough to have known him, he loved to make you laugh and gave the best hugs.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, January 23, from 4-7 PM at the Bailey Funeral Home, 176 Main Street, Peapack NJ. A burial will be held on Friday, January 24, at 11:30 AM at the Bedminster Reformed Church Cemetery where he will be laid to rest next to his wife Rita. In lieu of flowers, donations in Philip’s memory may be made to the Kidney Cancer Association
