Obituary of Michael John Shimko

RANDOLPH TWP. - Michael J. Shimko died suddenly on September 1, 2012 at his home. He was 52. Born on January 21, 1960 to the late Michael Anthony and Gerri Marie (Long) Shimko in Wilkes Barre, PA, he was a resident of Randolph for many years. Mr. Shimko was a postal clerk for the Martinsville NJ Post Office for over 18 years. He was a 3rd degree Knight with the Commodore John Barry Council #2544 Knights of Columbus of Dunellen, and a member of St. Joseph's R. C. Church in Mendham. He enjoyed shuffleboard, cooking, football, watching old movies, and was an avid reader. Mr. Shimko is survived by his wife of 17 years, Mary Marelli Shimko, a sister Beth Sandberg, a step-brother Brian Reskow, and many nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be from the funeral home on Friday, September 7, 2012 at 9:45 AM, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 AM at St. Joseph's R. C. Church on West Main Street, Mendham, NJ 07945. Cremation will be private. The family will be accepting floral expressions of sympathy.
