Obituary of John J. Dourney

John J. Dourney, Jr. passed away peacefully at home in Bedminster on Dec. 18, 2012. He was 86. Jack was born in Orange, New Jersey, and raised in West Orange where he lived until moving to Bedminster 27 years ago. Jack excelled in sports during high school and became a catcher for the Boston Red Sox minor league team The Roanoke Red Sox. He served in the Army from Jan. 4, 1945 until Nov. 27, 1946 Jack founded Arm-R-Lite Door Manufacturing Co. of S. Plainfield, NJ in 1958 where he was President until his retirement in 1991. He was a past member of the West Orange Rotary. Jack was an avid golfer, owned many thoroughbred horses over the years and enjoyed spending time with his loving family during his retirement. He was predeceased by his wife Patricia Dourney in 1984, his brother Charles Dourney and his sister Claire Caruso. Survivors include his wife Wilma Elkins Dourney of Bedminster, four daughters Susan Erskine (Bill) of SanDiego, CA, Debbie Dynan (Alan) of West Orange, Cindy Tran (Tom) of Simsbury CT, and Doris Dorey (Artie) of East Hanover, two step –daughters Sharon McGrady of New Brunswick, and Shannon McGrady (fiance Rob Marsh)of Piscataway, two sisters Mary Byrne of Denville and Janet Burns of Brick, NJ. He is also survived by his 9 grandchildren Tricia Izadi (Darin), Ian Erskine, John Dynan, Nick Dynan, Tiffany Tran, Kelly Tran, Jimmy Dorey (fiance Cortney Antonucci), Anthony Dorey, Danielle Dorey, and 1 great grandchild Jake Izadi. Visitation will be held on Friday from 2-4 & 7-9pm at the Bailey Funeral Home, 176 Main St., Peapack, NJ. Funeral Mass Saturday 11:15 a.m. at St. Joseph Church, West Orange. Interment Gates of Heaven Cemetery, East Hanover.
