Obituary of Lawrence Deckenbach

Lawrence Deckenbach died suddenly on May 15, 2013 at the Chelsea at Brookfield in Belvidere. He was 86. Born in Orange, NJ he lived in Mendham for 27 years before moving to Cape May in 1986. Larry worked as a dispatcher for P.S.E.&G. in Irvington for 47 years before retiring in 1986. He served in the Navy during WWII. He was a lifetime member of the Pastime Club in Mendham and was a past member of the Mendham Borough Fire Department. He was also a member of the VFW in Cape May and the American Legion. His family will remember him as a loving husband, father and grandfather who's quick wit and sense of humor will keep us smiling forever. He was predeceased by his wife Dolores in 2009. Survivors include two sons; Mark (Sue) of Stillwater, and Paul (Katie) of Great Meadows, and one daughter Beth Anne Darnall (William) of Buckingham, PA.. He is also survived by his 5 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild. Visitation will be held on Friday May 17, 2013 from 4-8pm at the Bailey Funeral Home, 8 Hilltop Rd., Mendham. Funeral Mass Saturday 11am at St. Joseph, Church Mendham. Interment St. Joseph Church Cemetery.
