Obituary of John A Longstaff, Jr.

John A. Longstaff, son of Maryella and John Longstaff, passed away on August 1, 2015 at St. Joseph Hospital in Paterson, NJ. He was 72 years old. John was born in Jersey City, NJ, and grew up in Winfield Park, NJ. He lived in Mount Hope, NY before moving to Bedminster, NJ in 1984. He graduated from Fairmont State College with a bachelor’s degree in education and Montclair State College with master’s degree in economics. For nearly 25 years, John worked in distribution and sourcing for AT&T and Lucent Technologies. John loved reading, going to the beach, and swimming. He was an avid West Virginia Mountaineers fan. He was predeceased by his wife Olivia in 2014. John is survived by his son, Christopher Longstaff and his wife, Sherie, of West Milford, N.J.; his daughter and son-in-law, Carrie and Dean Ferrera, of West Milford, N.J.; two grandchildren, Kayleigh and Connor Ferrera; his brother and sister-in-law, Thomas and Linda Longstaff of Florida; his brother-in-law and sister, Lou and Jean Wisniewski of Louisiana; and his sister, Joy Ritzer of Florida. Visitation will be held Wednesday, August 5, from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Bailey Funeral Home, 176 Main Street, Peapack, NJ. A memorial service will be held at St. Luke’s Episcopal Church in Gladstone on Thursday August 6 at 11 a.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association at www.alz.org.
