Obituary of Dr. David P. Kopcsik
Dr. David P. Kopcsik, 77, passed away on Feb. 20, 2017 after a brief respiratory illness. He was a devoted husband and father, a gentleman, and a patriot.
A lifelong resident of New Jersey, David grew up in Fords and graduated from Fairleigh Dickinson University and Tufts Dental School. After serving as an officer in the Navy, he married his late wife, Penny, and with her help, established orthodontia practices in Mendham, where they raised their family, and in Long Valley.
Reserved but always one to enjoy a good laugh, few things were as satisfying to see as David laughing to the point of tears. He loved Mendham, and watching his mostly young patients grow up and thrive. He was a long-time member of Hilltop Presbyterian Church, serving in many roles. Proud of his Scottish roots, David never missed an opportunity to wear the kilt, particularly on Reformation Sunday or at a St. Andrew’s Society function. He always seemed most at peace when sailing.
Dr. Kopcsik is survived by his three children, Jonathan (Paige), Mila, and Jeremy (Kara), as well as by three grandchildren, Holden, Jordan, and Griffin.
Friends of the family are invited to a celebration of David’s life on Saturday, March 18, 2017 from 1 to 4 pm at the Black Horse Tavern.
Burial was private. For those desiring, memorial donations to the Mendham First Aid Squad or the JDRF, would be appreciated.
